Tara's world is turned upside down when her father, a Kurdish resistance fighter, is betrayed to the Iraqi police. The family is forced to flee their home and make a terrifying journey to the mountains of Iran, but even there they are not safe...
Tara is a teenage girl growing up in Kurdistan, where there is an ongoing war happening, Walking home from school one day with a friend, she sees a young boy killed by soliders due too something that he has said. On returning home she tells her mother, who then sits her down and fully explains why the war is happening.
Later on that night, an unexpected visitor arrives, who is Tara's uncle, a resistance fighter living in the mountains. He arrives hurt from being shot at by the army. After telling storys too Tara's brother, he also decides too leave with his uncle to join him in the village.
The next day another unexpected visitor arrives, looking for Tara's father who was ill in bed, he tells him that the police and army have been too his workplace looking for him and he has too leave straight away.
Tara and her family have too flee too the Kurdish Monutains, where they live for a short while, before crossing the border too Iran......
